Reiterating his stand that media in the state in unison with the UDF Government was trying to destroy the party, CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday said that under the pretext of investigation into the T P Chandrasekharan murder, ‘’the corporate media was propagating false news with ulterior motives.’’
Inaugurating a party rally here, organised against the ‘false propaganda by media,’ he said at no stage, the CPM workers had barged into any media orgainsation’s office or anyway tried to obstruct their activities.
“What the party is trying to do is to expose the lack of credibility of the media,’’ he said.
Pinarayi said that they did not believe that by attacking a media organisation they could stop media’s attack against them. “If the people had believed all these lies propagated by the media, the CPM could not have sustained itself,’’ he said. He alleged that Union Minister of State for Home Mullappally Ramachandran had influenced the CBI officials to book the CPM leaders in the Fasal murder case.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan should remember that they could not contain the CPM using the police, he said. “If they tried to do so, Thiruvanchoor would find it difficult to find enough policemen to destroy the party,’’ he said. He criticised what he called the UDF Government’s strategy of unleashing false propaganda under the cover of TP murder.
He said no such attack could destroy the party as it had deep roots among the masses.
He reiterated that RMP leaders, including the slain leader T P Chandrasekharan, had started thinking about returning to the CPM.
